This policy explains what happens to personal information you give us through this website. It describes what the site actually does rather than covering every possibility, so it should be short enough to read.
Who we are

What we collect, and when
If you send an enquiry
The contact form collects your name, email address, phone number (optional) and message.
The Start Your Website form collects your name, business name, email address, phone number (optional), existing website address (optional), the service you are interested in, the package you selected (optional) and your description of the project.
Both forms also record the page you submitted from, so we can see what you were reading when you got in touch. We do not keep your IP address, your device or your browser.
There is one exception, and it exists to stop automated abuse. When a form is sent, the site counts how many enquiries have come from your network in the last hour. That count is held against a one-way fingerprint of your IP address rather than the address itself, it is never attached to your enquiry, and it is deleted within the hour.
If you email or ring us
We keep the correspondence in order to reply to it and to keep a record of what was agreed.
Website analytics
This website does not currently use any analytics or tracking service. If that changes, nothing will be loaded until you have actively agreed to it through the cookie banner, and this policy will be updated to say what is being used before it is switched on.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- To answer your enquiry. Our legitimate interest in responding to someone who has contacted us asking for a reply.
- To carry out work you have engaged us for. Performance of a contract.
- To keep business and tax records. Legal obligation.
- Analytics, if ever enabled. Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Where it goes
When you submit a form, the details are saved in this website’s own database and a copy is emailed to us at hello@malnor.co.uk. You also receive an automatic email confirming we have got it. Saving it first means an enquiry is not lost if the email fails to arrive.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. The only parties who ever handle it are our website host and our email provider, acting on our instructions in order to run the site and deliver the messages.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that did not become work are automatically and permanently deleted after 24 months. This happens on a schedule rather than when someone remembers.
Enquiries that became a project are kept for as long as we work together and afterwards for as long as we are required to keep business and tax records.
You can ask us to delete your details sooner. We will, unless we are legally required to keep them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or provide it in a portable form. You can also object to us holding it on the basis of legitimate interests.
Email hello@malnor.co.uk and we will deal with it within one month. There is no charge.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
Cookies
This site sets very few cookies and none of them track you. The cookie policy lists every one.
Changes
If we change how the site handles personal information, we will update this page and change the date below.
