Web design · Norton
Malnor is MALton and NORton, and we are about five minutes from Norton high street. If your business is here, we are as local as it is possible to be.
The problem
Two towns, one river, and a lot of people outside the area treating the whole thing as Malton. If your customers are local it barely matters. If they are searching, it matters a great deal. A website that never says the word Norton will not be found by anyone typing it.
Norton is one of the country's significant racehorse training centres, and the businesses around that, such as farriers, equine vets, feed and bedding suppliers, horse transport, physiotherapists, saddlers and yard builders, are selling to owners and trainers who may be nowhere near here. That is a national market reached through a website, and a surprising number of those businesses do not have one worth the name.
The commonest pattern anywhere, and Norton has its share. Somebody doing genuinely good work, whose website was built in a hurry years ago and now makes them look smaller than they are.
Locally
Norton sits directly across the Derwent from Malton and functions as its own town, with its own high street, its own trades and its own light industrial estates. Most businesses here serve a local catchment, and for them the website's job is straightforward: be findable, be credible, be easy to contact.
The exception is the racing industry, and it is a big exception. Norton is a long-established training centre, and the supply chain around it is unusually specialist. If you shoe horses, transport them, treat them, feed them or build the yards they live in, your customer is not necessarily in Ryedale. They might be anywhere there are horses. That changes what the website has to do. It stops being a local advert and starts being the thing that lets somebody two counties away decide you are worth ringing.
It also means the ordinary local-SEO advice does not entirely fit. A specialist business with a national customer needs content that explains what it does properly, because the person reading it cannot pop in.

FAQs
Both, and honestly. If you are in Norton, say Norton. It is what people here type and it is where you are. Mentioning Malton as well is not deception, it is describing your catchment, and the two towns are treated as one by most people searching from outside.
Less than you would think. If you sell into the racing industry nationally, the site should be built to explain the specialism properly and be findable for what you do rather than where you are. That is a different build, and we would tell you so rather than sell you a local package.
Yes, easily. We are minutes away. Plenty of projects run entirely over email, but if sitting down with the site in front of you is quicker, that is no trouble at all.
£400 for up to five pages, £800 for up to ten, with the content written for you. The same prices apply here as anywhere else.
