SEO

Getting found by people who are already looking.

Search is the one channel where the customer starts the conversation. This is what we do about it, and just as importantly, what we will not promise.

  • Fundamentals included with every website
  • Ongoing work quoted, never guessed
  • No ranking guarantees, from anyone honest

What we do

What ongoing SEO involves

Not all of it applies to every business. A local trade and a firm competing across the county need very different work, and we would rather do three things properly than bill for eight.

  • Local SEO

Being found for what you do plus where you do it. Consistent business details everywhere they appear, pages that genuinely serve each area rather than repeating a template, and the on-page work that tells Google where you operate.

  • Google Business Profile

For most local businesses this drives more calls than the website does. Getting the profile claimed, categorised properly, filled in, photographed and kept active, and getting real reviews onto it.

  • Keyword and content strategy

Working out what your customers actually type, which of those terms you can realistically compete for, and which are a waste of a year. Volume is the least useful number in that decision.

  • On-page SEO

Titles, descriptions, headings, internal links, structured data and the content itself. The unglamorous work that decides whether a page ever gets a chance.

  • Technical SEO

Crawling, indexing, speed, mobile behaviour, redirects, duplicate content, broken links. Usually the quickest wins on a site somebody else built.

  • Content

Writing pages worth ranking. Search engines have got steadily better at spotting content written to fill a gap in a spreadsheet rather than to answer a question.

  • Reporting

What changed, what it did, and what we are doing next. In English, on one page, with the numbers that matter rather than forty pages of dashboard.

  • Links

Earning mentions from places that are genuinely relevant: suppliers, trade bodies, local press, sponsorships. Slow, and the only version that keeps working.

Detail

What is included with a website, and what is not

Every website we build comes with the SEO fundamentals: unique page titles and descriptions, a clean heading structure, fast loading, alt text, an XML sitemap, structured data describing the business, and pages aimed at things people actually search for. That is included in the price and it is not an upsell.

That groundwork is enough to compete for a lot of local terms, particularly in a market like Ryedale where the competition is often a five-year-old site nobody has touched.

It is not enough on its own in York or Harrogate, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Competitive markets are won over months with content, reviews, links and reputation. That is ongoing work, it costs ongoing money, and it is a decision to make with your eyes open.

One thing we will never do is guarantee you a position. Nobody controls Google's results, the results are different for different people in different places on different devices, and anyone promising you the top spot is either inexperienced or counting on you not checking.

What it costs

Ongoing SEO is quoted, not priced from a list, because the work needed to compete in Pickering and the work needed to compete in Harrogate are not the same job. We will look at your market, tell you what it would realistically take and how long it would take, and if the honest answer is that your money is better spent elsewhere, we will tell you that too.

FAQs

Questions about search

Can you guarantee me first place on Google?

No, and neither can anyone else. Results vary by person, place and device, and Google changes them constantly. What can be controlled is whether your site is crawlable, understandable, fast and genuinely useful, and that is what the work targets.

How long before I see anything?

Technical fixes can show within weeks. Competing for a term that somebody else has held for five years is a six-to-twelve month job. Anyone offering you page one in thirty days is selling something else.

Do I need ongoing SEO if you build my site?

Often not, at first. A well-built site in a market without much competition will find its level on its own. Ongoing work is worth it when the competition is real and the value of a customer justifies the spend, and that is a conversation, not an assumption.

Is Google Business Profile more important than the website?

For a lot of local businesses, in terms of raw phone calls, yes. It is also free. We would rather tell you that than sell you something bigger.

What about AI search and chatbots?

The same things help: clear structure, plain answers to real questions, accurate information about who you are and where you work. There is no separate trick, and be wary of anyone charging for one.
