Web design for landscapers

Nobody buys landscaping from a description.

This is the most visual trade there is. Your customers are imagining a finished garden, and either your website shows them one or it does not. Everything else is secondary.

  • From £400
  • Built around your photographs
  • Before and after done properly

The problem

What makes landscaping different

Two things: it is bought with the eyes, and it is bought in a rush every spring.

  • The photographs are the sales pitch

A customer cannot picture "block paving with a contrasting border" from words. They can look at a finished drive and know instantly whether it is what they want. On a landscaping site, images are not decoration. They are the product.

  • Before and after is unusually powerful

No other trade transforms a space this visibly. A tired lawn and a broken patio next to what you turned it into is the most persuasive thing you own, and most landscapers never photograph the before.

  • The season compresses everything

Enquiries surge from February to May and you cannot take them all. That makes the website's job partly filtering: attracting the work worth doing and gently discouraging the rest.

  • The word covers ten different trades

Driveways, patios, fencing, decking, turfing, walling, planting, garden design, maintenance. A customer who wants a designed garden and one who wants a drive laid are looking for very different firms.

What it needs

What a landscaping website needs

Photographs, organised.

A project gallery arranged by type

Not one long scroll of everything. Someone who wants a patio should be able to see patios. Sorting the photographs is worth more than adding more of them.

Before and after pairs

Start photographing the before, even badly, even on your phone in the rain. In a year you will have the best marketing asset in your trade. We build the layouts to show them side by side.

Honesty about what you take on

Minimum job size, whether you do design as well as build, whether you maintain afterwards. It turns the flood of spring enquiries into the right ones.

Structure

The pages we would build

Landscaping suits the ten-page package, because each surface type is its own search.

  • Home

Your single best finished garden, large, straight away.

  • Driveways

Block paving, resin, gravel, tarmac. Big-ticket and heavily searched.

  • Patios and paving

The other big one, and the most photogenic.

  • Fencing and walling

Smaller jobs, steady demand, often the first thing a new customer buys before trusting you with more.

  • Garden design and planting

A different customer with a bigger budget. Worth separating.

  • Projects

The gallery, sorted by type, with before and after where you have it.

  • Areas covered and contact

Where you work, and a form that lets people attach a photo of their garden.

FAQs

Questions from landscapers

My photographs are not professional. Does that matter?

Less than you think. Phone photographs of genuinely good work in decent light are fine, and they read as authentic in a way that a stock image never will. The two rules are: shoot in daylight, and shoot it finished and tidied.

I am fully booked every spring anyway.

Then the site is for choosing better jobs and for filling the quieter months. A page aimed at winter fencing and maintenance work does more for a landscaper than another spring enquiry you have to turn away.

Should I show prices?

A per-square-metre guide for drives and patios helps, because it stops you quoting for people whose budget was never realistic. Design work is genuinely bespoke and does not price that way.

What if I have no before photographs?

Then the site is built around finished work, which is perfectly good, and you start photographing the before from the next job onwards. We never fabricate a before image or leave an empty space where one should be.
