Web design for plumbers and heating engineers
One needs you in the next hour and will not read a word. The other is spending two thousand pounds and wants to understand the options. Most plumbing websites are built for one and lose the other.
The problem
This is the defining problem of a plumbing website, and it is solvable.
Water is coming through a ceiling. They will try three numbers until one answers. Nothing on your site matters except how fast they can find a number and tap it, not your history, not your service list, not your gallery.
A replacement boiler is a considered purchase. They want to know which makes you fit, what the warranty is, whether there is finance, how long you will be in the house, and what it will roughly cost. They will compare you against a national installer with a slick quote tool.
For anything gas, customers have been told for years to check the engineer is on the Gas Safe Register. Your registration number should be visible and correct, because a proportion of your customers genuinely will check it.
Whether or not you fit them, customers are asking. A page that explains plainly whether a heat pump suits their house, including when it does not, earns more trust than silence does.
What it needs
Serve the emergency in one tap and the boiler buyer in one page.
The number fixed at the top on mobile, tappable, with your actual hours next to it. If you do not do out-of-hours, say so. Being honest about it is better than a missed call at 2am.
Makes you fit, warranty lengths, what a typical installation involves, how long it takes, finance if you offer it, and what happens to the old one. This is the highest-value page on the site and usually the thinnest.
Number included, current. It costs nothing and it is the reassurance this trade is bought on.
Structure
Emergency number at the top, what you do, where you cover.
Hours, response, what to do while waiting. Turning the stopcock off is genuinely useful advice and people remember who gave it.
The considered-purchase page. Give it the room it deserves.
Seasonal, repeatable, and searched for by name.
If you fit them, this is a different customer again and wants photographs of finished bathrooms.
Where you do this work. An honest explanation of suitability beats a sales page.
Named places, and every way to reach you.
Mistakes
The commonest and most expensive mistake in this trade. On an emergency search the number is the website.
"We install boilers" competes against a national firm offering a fixed price in sixty seconds. You will not win on price, but you can win on being local, contactable and clear, and that takes more than a line.
"24/7 emergency callout" when you mean "I answer the phone if I am awake" produces angry reviews. Publish what you actually do.

FAQs
Not on their terms, and you do not need to. They win on process and finance; you win on being local, on the customer speaking to the person who will actually be in their house, and on being there next year when something needs adjusting. Say that plainly and it lands.
List the ones you actually install and are accredited for. Naming three you know inside out is more convincing than a wall of logos.
For plumbing, yes. A photograph of the leak or the boiler badge saves a visit and speeds up a quote. We build it in wherever you want it.
Say so honestly and explain why. Customers ask, and a straight answer builds more trust than pretending the question is not being asked.
Advice
Most small business sites have too many pages saying too little. Here is the site most local businesses should have, page by page, and the five…
Quotes for the same website vary enormously. Here is what actually drives the price, and the four questions that tell you whether one is fair.
A builder platform is sometimes the right answer and we will say so. But the subscription is not the real price, and there is one clause worth…
Tell us what the business does and what you need the site to do. You will get a straight answer on what it costs and how long it takes, not a discovery call.
