"Book a discovery call" before anybody mentions a number. It is a sales process, and it costs a busy owner an afternoon to find out something that could have been a line on a page.

A five-page site is not an interesting project to an agency with a retained client list. It gets done, but it gets done by whoever is free, and it shows.

York is competitive for almost anything commercial, with established firms who have been building authority for years. Anyone promising you page one for a city term as part of a website build is not being straight with you.

We would rather set this out plainly than sell to everybody.
We are a good fit if you are an independent business, a professional practice or a trade in or around York, you want something genuinely well designed, and you would rather deal with the person building it than an account manager. The prices are published, the work is the same standard we would give anyone, and you will not be a small job squeezed between two big ones.
We are the wrong answer if you need a brand strategy programme, a photography and video shoot, a paid media campaign and a team on retainer. Agencies exist for that and do it properly. Paying us to imitate one would serve nobody.
On search specifically: a well-built site will compete for the terms it reasonably can, and in a city the size of York that is unlikely to include the most contested commercial phrases without sustained work over months. We will tell you where we think you can realistically win and where you cannot, before you spend anything, rather than after.
And no, we do not have an office in York. Malton is half an hour up the road and we are happy to come to you.

Why is this so much cheaper than the York quotes we have had?
Because there is no agency around it. No account manager, no project manager, no city-centre office and no sales team whose time has to be recovered from your invoice. The design and build work is comparable; the overhead is not.
Will you rank us in York?
We will build a site that deserves to rank and be honest about what else it would take. For a competitive York term, that is months of content, reviews and links, and it is a separate ongoing job. Anyone including it in a one-week build price is not telling you the truth.
Do you actually come to York?
Yes, when it helps. It is about half an hour. Most projects run over email and a phone call quite happily, but if a face-to-face start would be quicker, we will come to you.
Is a five-page site really enough for a city business?
Depends entirely on what you do. A single-service professional practice, often yes. Anything with several distinct services competing for separate searches usually wants ten. We would rather advise the smaller package where it is right than sell the bigger one by default.
